A writer stuck at home uses the social media posts of others to travel across America in a search for commonality.

The year 2020 was the culmination of three things:

1. Racial Tension

2. Political Division

3. A Pandemic Virus

And on top of those threats,

We had Social Media…

It was back in 1960 that the author John Steinbeck in his book Travels with Charley,

Took a physical road trip around the United States asking,

“What are Americans like today?”

And it was in 2020,

Amidst Covid-19 Stay-at-Home orders,

That Dan Parks wanted to ask the same thing.

What if Dan Parks took John Steinbeck’s trip around the United States,

and used the Social Media posts of others as vehicle asking,

“What are Americans like today?”
